The Essex National Heritage Area. The Essex National Heritage Area (ENHA) covers 500 square miles north of Boston, Massachusetts. The objective of the initial project was to entice visitors to visit the hundreds of historic sites within ENHA. The solution was to provide a set of "trails," both metaphorical and real. These trails were divided into three topics, 1) early settlement, 2) industrial, and 3) maritime. Thus, the project encompassed three sites in one. Our development of this project gained wide recognition for its concept, design and execution, and was recognized as a finalist in the 1999 Massachusetts Interactive Media Council (MIMC) Awards.
