SuperPositioning FAQ

Superpositioning: An Introduction.
Superpage.com's search engine positioning and optimization service

Virtually every one who owns a web site wants better placement in the major Internet search engines. If your site doesn’t show up in the first 3-5 pages of a search engine’s results, your site is likely not going to get found.

But did you know that your site design might actually be preventing search engines from finding your site? If you have a Flash animation or Java applet on your entry page, or use an image map for site navigation, search engines may be bypassing your site.

Did you know that if you make regular changes to the content of your site, some search engines will note that and come back regularly to look for fresh content, searching for the exact keyword combinations you want them to look for?

Did you know that many search engines now require you to use paid placement services to be carried in their databases and that if you use free site placement services, you can actually be removed from some search engine databases?

What we’re talking about here is knowledge. If you want your web site to be effectively optimized for inclusion in the major Internet search engines, you need a helping hand that understands the complicated, ever-evolving world of the major Internet search engines and has the knowledge to help your site deliver exactly what those search engines are looking for when they crawl the Internet picking up web sites.

Search engine knowledge is exactly what Superpositioning is all about. Unlike many other optimization and placement services, Superpositioning doesn’t use special software, or guarantee addition to hundreds of different search engines with a single submission. That’s because services that make those promises don’t work.

After years of working to include and optimize positioning of our own sites in the major search engines, we’ve learned a few things about how the major Internet search engines work:

  • Each of the major search engines is a unique application with its own rules for admission and optimization.
  • Those rules change all the time.
  • The only way to gain admission and better positioning in those search engines is to understand what each one requires and work to make sure your site meets those requirements.
  • Gaining admission and better positioning in search engines requires patience and effort.
  • Patience, effort and understanding the rules almost always pay off with better positioning and more traffic for your site.

Keeping these factors in mind, Superpage has created Superpositioning as a service that can help give your site better positioning in the major search engines through education, placement, site design changes, and content management. Together, these aspects of the service create a realistic and successful formula for getting your site into the major search engines, and ultimately getting the best possible positioning for your site.

Here’s how Superpositioning works:

Superpage will create a customized report for your site detailing the following:

  • A detailed explanation of the 12 major search engines -- AltaVista, AOL, Ask Jeeves, Direct Hit, Google, HotBot, LookSmart, Lycos, MSN, Netscape, Yahoo and the Open Directory Project. The explanation includes how the different search engines work together, which search engines charge for placement, and major requirements of each search engine for better placement.
  • Where your site currently stands in the 12 major search engines. Superpositioning will look for your site under any associated domains, as well as up to six keywords or keyword combinations.
  • For any search engines in which your site is not listed, Superpositioning will list exact URLs for placement and any placement charges.
  • Proposed changes for your site’s meta tags. If your site does not currently have meta tags, the report will offer new tags that can be easily copied and pasted onto your site.
  • Proposed changes to site design that will meet requirements of the major search engines.
  • Suggestions for content changes that will meet requirements of the major search engines.

Superpage will submit your site to any search engines where your site does not appear.

Superpage can then make any meta tag changes or design changes needed to help the site obtain better positioning. This can include any of the following services:

  • Meta tag creation or adjustment on multiple pages.
  • Changes in site layout, including navigation.
  • Creation of space for rotating content and custom content management application.

Superpage will create a regular monthly update schedule to do any of the following:

  • Content rotation.
  • Make placements to new search engines, as needed.
  • Make further design or meta tag changes, as required by site changes.

Superpage can also make recommendations and placements for customers interested in purchasing paid placement space or banner advertising from any of the major search engines. Recommendations for paid space or banner ads are not included in the initial custom report.

Here’s what Superpositioning costs:

The initial custom report costs $300 and can be delivered within 5-7 business days. After that, any services are optional, depending on what you want to do with your site. Optional service costs include the following:

  • Site submission service: Cost of placement plus $50 for each search engine.
  • Design changes or application design: Custom, depending on design.
  • Monthly updates: Custom, depending on extent of updates.

Superpage will deduct the $300 cost of the report from any additional design changes ordered through the Superpositioning service. This means that you can obtain the initial custom report for no cost if you eventually order design changes, application design or any other services totaling more than $1,000 from Superpage.
